Today as soon as my migraine subsided, I decided to get my arms wet and do some work in the reef. It was cold and rainy outside, so why not play in the 80 degree water. I removed some stuff that needed to be gone, like empty shells, some dead skeletons, etc and tried cleaning up some corals. Was doing research on my cyano problem and found some articles by Melev which of course led me here. I have been battling cyano for a few weeks now and I have been pretty frustrated. I have siphoned, cut way back on feedings, increased water changes, and added GFO. But no luck so far. Of course parameters are all in line which tells me nothing. I'm going to be out of town for an 8 week stretch next year and I'm really worried about my reef . Anyone have suggestions about what to do to give me some piece of mind? My options so far are 1) a local fairly reputable tank maintenance company and 2) the wife's little brothers (18 and 21) who are responsible, but not experienced with reefs and live an hour away. Both options have their problems as you may imagine... Any other suggestions?
