I received my Avast Marine Works K1 "You Build" Kalkwasser Stirrer today and it definitely has more pieces than the Avast Marine Works MR5 "You Build" Media Reactor which meant more fun! It took me about 2 hours to put it together since there is more time required for the glue to dry accordingly (I also made a mistake of not aligning the Motor Chamber Wire director in front of the Probe Holder which made for an extremely snug fit for the exiting wires which I could correct because ...

So I received my Avast Marine Works "You Build" MR5 Media Reactor. I am so impressed with the kit that I am going to buy about 3 more reactors and their Kalkwasser Stirrer! Construction was amazingly simple (the instructional video on the website was great). After about 15 minutes of construction the unit was completely assembled and is now sitting for the final curing stage. Well with summer coming to an end, and fall is in the air, I decided to spend the afternoon cleaning out my skimmer, and refilling my calcium reactor. To do this I have to take them offline and remove them from the sump area. This makes it very easy to do some much needed cleaning, and vacuuming up all the dust,salt creep, and misc stuff when the equipment is out. The front of my cabinet comes off so it makes it very easy to remove the equipment.

Well I sat down with my receipts and came up with the cost so far for this build. I have spent more money then absolutely necessary, but I wanted to experiment with some things, I had to buy some tools, and I bought some items in bulk because I know I will be building more of these. So I am just basically going to give you the break down of all the things I have used on this project.
