  2. Next Wave was fun and I came home with a new item

    After many months of planning, Next Wave was another good show. Attendees made it a point to hear each of the four speakers throughout the day on May 3, 2014.   3. new corals need a nice friendly ID

    Well upon encouragement from Melev I am attempting SPS once again. I went to the LFS Saturday and found these specimens:

    The above SPS is purple with small green polyps, It was next to the below acroporas but I couldn't get an ID from the LFS nor have I seen this particular growth style online yet.

    There are actually two different acropora on this rock with a small frag of the green left ...

  4. Mystery Coral - At least for me...

    So, I went to the lfs the other day for a test kit and something caught my eye. It seemed to be an SPS but it had HUGE polyps which were all closed. This coral was in a junk tank sitting on the bottom and was marked at $10. For the price and the mystery of it all I couldn't pass it up. So, I brought it home, acclimated it and began some research. Not an easy coral to find any information on to say the least. Luckily I have a
    friend that is more tenacious than I when it comes to coral research ...

  5. 195 Update

    It has been a long time since i have updated my build. Before starting a lot has happened over the last year and a half. I have changed jobs, welcomed our new addition to my family with a handsome son and moved into my fiances home.
    Since spring i have built a 9 by 9 foot filter room in the basement where all of my equipment is at. For my tank equipment I went with 3 ecotech radion pros, 2 vortech mp40's, reef octopus xp3000 ext skimmer, bubble magnus dosing pump, tunzes ato, dart return ...
