Basic full overview of the system
Since my shallow 60g is on eternal hold, I decided I needed to change things up somewhere. My current growout system is a very traditional setup- 40 breeder tank consisting of racks of eggcrate for the frags, draining into a very basic sump housing the skimmer and heater. Internal return pump and feed pump for the GAC/GFO reactor. A separate 10g tank holding top-off water to be added to the sump controlled by a level sensor. Nothing special. Not that I haven't had decent results with it, but I've ...
My 29g has come a long way! I decided to go crazy with an all SPS tank. I got rid of several really nice corals and cut my rock way back, but I absolutely love the tank now! It hurt most getting rid of my Australian Gold Torch Coral, but I gave it to a friend up the road who I knew would take care of it and I'd still get to watch it grow and look great. :-) I'm beginning to become a bit of an SPS Freak... My filtering is currently about 30ml of Biopellets in a NextReef ...
I took a video today but my battery ran out. Things are looking better already, even though most of the corals have lost a lot of tissue that seems to be slowing. My nitrates are high, and I did a water change yesterday and I'm planning to do another here in a couple of days.

My first year of reef keeping had its share lessons and mistakes. I had a detritus problem and the filtration was too inadequate to deal with it, so cleaning was a pain in the mass. I had problems dialing the lighting and flow just right, and as a result coral growth was inconsistent. This first year taught me what I really wanted (I think) out of the hobby, so I decided to start anew. I wanted a ...
