Marc recently posted about raising mag in his tank. That got me thinking I haven't tested mine in some time. Well, today it is 1050. According to the reef chemistry calculator I'm going to have to put 20 cups of Randy's 2 part to get it to 1400! Can that be right?
My reef tends to make noise, but not enough to be an issue. However, the past few days my skimmer has been way too loud with the sound emanating from the air tubes used to venturi air into the pumps. I ran several cups of heated RO/DI water through them, but the suction sound was annoying! Only one of the two pumps was the source, so I removed that pump to clean the impeller, tubing and the nipple where the two connect. I was expecting salt creep to be the obstruction. ...
The 10th of the month snuck past me, so here's the update a couple of days later. While I was away for MACNA, essentially all went well with the reef and anemone cube. The first night, of course around 1 a.m. in Washington D.C. I started getting notifications from Reeftronics that it couldn't communicate with my reef's Apex controller. Did a power outage occur? Not that I know of. I got a couple more texts, and the next morning I was up around 8 a.m. and had another text telling me ...
The first few photo's are of the stand during the build. You can see the 2 PVC conduits that will have the wiring that runs from the front to back of the stand. There are 2 sets of hangers that are mounted between the 2 conduits. The return manifold is mounted to the hanger between the 2 conduits. The return manifold was shortened by one output and raised and mounted above the hangers after these photos. This was to allow removal of the skimmer from the sump without going to a lot of trouble. The ...

The first 3 photo's are of a completed side panel for the stand. A panel was added to the back of the doors to help protect the raised panel door from water and salt spray. These panels have the same rubber coating that is on the stand and they are painted white. The side doors are all the same except for the direction the door swings. There are 2 side panels on each side. There is also 2 covers to protect the hinge assembly when the door is closed attached to the side panel. When I had this running ...
