I've been so busy I didn't even get a chance to blog about my new stand. However, now that I'm in Florida I have some quiet moments until MACNA begins, so here are some images I took with my iPhone 4.
The stand is 85.5" long, 36" wide and 38" tall. It is made of 2" tubular steel, welded and powder-coated. The steel is very thick, and the stand immensely heavy. When the welder dropped it off, it was too heavy for the two of us to carry, so I called for a third person to assist. Between the three of us, we were able to get it onto my deck since the fishroom floor still has to be poured.
I asked the welder to include a method for me to use a walkboard from the front or the back of the tank.
He did a great job, and all the welds are very smooth.
I'll take more pictures of the walkboard's framework, which is very secure and well supported.
The new sump will fit within that framework.
Imagine me placing rockwork in the tank...
The walkboard will be stored when not in use.
