Today marks 26 months since the 400g was started anew. While it isn't perfect and I have some pests to target, I took pictures and did water tests to see how things are. Yesterday, a number of DFWMAS members came out for a Photography Workshop so the tank was cleaned prior to their arrival. Today I just swiped the glass clean, waited a couple of hours and took a series of pictures with three different lenses (18-200mm, 50mm, and 105mm).
To combat the recent discovery of elevated nitrate levels, I'm doing more water changes starting tonight.
Water tests tonight:
Salinity - 1.027 sg
Alkalinity - 10.5 dKH
Temperature - 79.3°F
Calcium - 450 ppm
Magnesium - 1200 ppm
Nitrate - 40 ppm
Phosphate - .25ppm
pH - 8.24
ORP - 302
With multiple water changes this week should help drop the nitrate and lower the salinity a tad. Phosphate Rx will bring the PO4 down. I just mixed up a new gallon of Magnesium and this is trickling in with a doser for the next couple of days to bring that one up.
And in additional news, I got my frag system running. It came out so nice, and it is super quiet. No leaks, ready to cycle. Currently it is simply running a Vectra M1 return pump, a Reef Octopus skimmer, and a Cobalt Neotherm heater. The three combined use a mere 140w of power. The M1 pump reports 10w of power at the current flow rate I've programmed into it. Here's the full blog about it: http://melevsreef.com/blog/new-frag-...nning-01102016
