On the chalice front, my chalices are doing pretty well, and thought I'd show a few pictures. They have only been in my tank for about 2 months, but I am seeing growth and colors are beginning to get better.

Here are some recent pictures that I have taken of some of my SPS corals. I have kind of a mixed reef right now, but I am working towards having a half SPS and half chalice tank.

Sadly, I have procrastinated updating my blog since my custom tank arrived about 4 months ago. So much has been done to the tank that I don't even know where to begin to restart my blog. I may just post a recent front tank shot from this morning, and work my way backwards with things that I feel may be interesting or relevant. Hopefully I can be more diligent with keeping my blog updated. To be honest, I don't like change and it has taken awhile for me to wrap my head around blogs and not just updating ...

Tank has arrived:




My custom 120g has finally arrived, as well as the stand and canopy. I am in the process of plumbing it and hanging the lights. I have been taking pictures and will be updating as I go along.

Biopellet Reactor:


I ran a NextReef SMR1 Biopellet reactor on my last tank, and had really good results with it. The constant carbon source help grow and feed bacteria that keep the nitrates and phosphates reduced. The levels were undetectable in my old tank. I feel this stability is necessary for optimal growth and coloration in keeping SPS. I was debating on adding the reactor now while the tank is new, or waiting 6 months or so till the reef was more mature. So I called ...
