your mag is too low should be up around 1350 and the readings on the red sea kit tend to be high so it may be lower than 750. You should get your specific gravity down to around 1.025. I would fix those and go from there.
I know this is an old post but, I have a bad case of dinos and was wondering how you beat them.
thx for all the help, i do appreciate it alot. I am think of drilling the back.
you also need to make sure the bottom of your tank as glass that is drill able as a lot of your bigger aquariums have tempered glass bottoms which are not drill able
Check out www.glass-holes.com . Local to me, great people to deal with and they are great help!
Before drilling your glass, check out melevesreef.com about the diy overflow. I did my first, and its fantastic! A blast/ simple to build, and so rewarding to watch it in action and say, "yeah, I built that! ". However, if you wanna drill the glass, that is a very clean look as well. Just get the outside diameter of whatever piece is going through the tank, and that's your bit size. Im sure you can youtube some d.I.y.'s on drilling glass for overflows and they would point you in the right direction. Good luck, keep us posted, I hope that helped some, and ask some more!
nice pics, you keeping both?
mine will have bubble tips in the morning usually when the lights first come on and will be longer if I fed it recently with no bubble tips....the rest of the time who the hell knows why it does the things it does, lol would like to see some pictures of the happy pair after recovery open and see where the newest one migrated to
Try increasing the flow. Mine were bubbly like yours for the first month, then I ramped up the flow and the tentacles got really long. My smaller BTAs that are about 2" are still too small for the tentacles to get real long but my 6" wide ones are like streamers. It's still up in there air why they get bubbled or elongated. adding more flow might just make them migrate for a while but its worth a shot!
i was feeding it once a week a piece of silverside, less than half of it. I don't know y mine has the short ones i wish that mine would reach out like i have seen with many.
how often were you feeding it? and grats on the split awesome photos
My green one has short tentacles like yours, I would like to find a longer tentacle bubble tip.
Very nice. Can I have 1? Just kiddin' but i'm sure my Amphiprion Clarkii would love to play in 1.
Excellent sequence of photos. Thanks for sharing!
Agreed. If you've not done so yet, call your mom and shower her with love.
From what I remember with my blue hippo tang. It didn't eat for weeks after placing him in my tank. After a month he came out of hiding and started eating everything in sight. Just give him more time to adjust to his new home.
Brine shrimp will be your best bet, try soaking it in garlic extract to entice him even further.
I can confirm at least that mine likes frozen brine but he is also about 4" long and i have seen young ones eat it at my LFS.
no none at all that i can c visibly to the naked eyes. All my other fish are eating. 2 percs 1 purple dotty back 1 yellow tang 1 yellow tail damsel.
Any signs of illness on the fish? EDIT: Also if an LFS has live brine near you, I would try some of that also.
