That's great, glad to hear it. Deltec has always been one of the leaders in aquarium gear so it's surprising to hear one of their skimmers aren't up to that standard.

Marc, I definitely believe in the abilities of wooden airstones.. having seen them first hand years ago, they definitely can get the job done. I remember a friend of mine, had a monster square skimmer with a ton of them.. truly a sight to see! Though my system has been chugging along well without a skimmer for a good long time, I really would like to get one on the system. There's no doubting the benefits of using a skimmer, and if I can achieve the long-sought dream of near-zero microbubbles.. then I am sold!

The Deltec MCE300, while I am sure the pump does the job well, the design of the body is a full frontal mess. Between the loose pump nozzle, the poorly designed collection cup, and the clear body.. there is a lot left to be desired. I honestly am just hoping the DIY bubble plate will help control the turbulence of the bubbles and point them up, instead of the loose nozzle shooting it down. So far I am seeing quite a bit of possibility in just the past three hours... here's hoping!

A wooden airstone skimmer can work in a small tank. One of our fellow addicts had a massive skimmer that used a bunch of those wooden airstones to skim his system, totally DIY. If this little one doesn't work out, you'll use the Deltec one you modded, I guess?

I'd imagine it also lets you spool the wiring under and behind it.

Thanks Marc, and yep it leans back all the time for a funny reason... when I do my nightly ritual of staring at the tank with the moonlights on I am always sitting. That, and it leaning gave me more board to work with, so all the equipment is nice and spaced out.

Thanks NEReef! I do have an overflow box hiding the AC110's intake, but the other Power Filter's intake is hiding behind the reef structure on the other side. Thankfully, even with a couple of spills, the ottoman has zero moisture issues.

Dude that tank is pisser!! I love how clean it looks. Very little equipment intrusion. It looks like you used overflow boxes to keep the HOB filters out of sight??? The top is a great idea too to cut down all visual cues that there are HOB filters in use. Any moisture problems with the reservoir in the ottoman looking thing?

I'm basically putting the four structures in 5G buckets, and using 3-4 pieces of fishing line tied to the structure and a 5G lid. It will keep it from tumbling. As for temp, I will coordinate via the AC in my car and a portable water temp monitor. This will work perfectly... in my head. I'm sure in practice it will be much harder. :lol:

Lots of water, and lock in the temps during the drive with sealed ice chests. You don't want it to roll over and crush anything.

The main problem is that all of the corals are on 4 structures.. and this being a mixed reef, it's going to be a bit of a nail biter during transport with all of them close together and "uncomfortable". But oh well, we'll see what happens.
