I can recommend reefledlights.com. I have two of their phoenix 45 kits over my 90 and I love them. They are controlled by my apex and come on at 20% in the morning and ramp up to 100% over a two hours. then ramp down from 100% to 20% over two hours at night. I made the switch from a crappy old fixture with two 250W MH and 4 65W PC's. And I saw a $30.00 drop in my power bill just by switching to the LED lights. I've had them running on my tank since the first of March and have not seen any corals lacking because of the light. My chalice has all it's color and my clam is as happy as could be. The clam moved all over the tank before trying to get into some good light and didn't open up all the way. After I switched to LED's he stopped moving and opens up like crazy. I love my LED's and when I get my 180 running I will move the two fixtures that I have over to it and add one more. For me LED was the way to go. Hit up the guys at reefledlights.com they can and will answer any and all questions you have. Great people to work with, and they offer great products.

Check out the DIY list on the home page. There a couple good articles there on setting up LED systems and what to get and where.

LOL! You should apply for one.

Hey, maybe MACNA should issue a credit card at 38% interest? Interested?

Black makes corals pop more than blue, blue just kind of blends them in with the background

Blue isn't all that natural to me, and black is a great backdrop for anything. When's the last time you went shopping for diamonds and they showcased them on blue velvet?

Melev, Cyano - is there a reason you prefer black over blue?

No matter the color you choose for the tank or the wall, Paint the back of the Tank. It will help to hide cords and everything else that will be behind the tank.

I concur with melev. I would paint the tank black (I wish I had) but otherwise progress is very exciting

I'd paint the back of the tank black if I were you.

Yes, the pump will go next to the side of the sump. The problem I ran into with drilling the sump, was having to drill more towards the middle of the glass to avoid cracking it. Adding a bulkhead then a 90 degree elbow would end up pushing the pump too far back.

Do you have any side to side room in the stand. I put the pump on one of my old tanks next to the sump since I ran out of room on the end.......

Pics of sump in stand?.... Eh No can do right now... Pics to come when the 120 is moved. The new stand is placed where it will go, and i find about 4-6 strong men to drop the sump into the tank from the top.

If you only knew the troubles I have encountered trying to find a sump for this tank. My number one issue has been the metal stand. It has 8 legs 4 in the front 4 in the back. At first I contemplated buying 2 acrylic sumps 30x14x14 (because it was the only thing that would fit thru the stands legs). 1. They were too small to handle 265 gal DT and they would have been around 500.00. Then I thought what if I have a custom acrylic sump made 5 feet in lenght and drop it into the stand from the from the top. AWESOME IDEA! Right?!!! NOT! I was quoted a jaw dropping 700.00 dollars. I was upset I wasn't going to have the money to continue this build. A couple of weeks went by and I scored a 110 gal tank for 80 dollars. Call it luck or good Karma. After getting the glass cut the sump the total cost was 160.00. only problem with glass sump...it's SUPER HEAVY!!
