I have a 50w multichip as a matter of fact! I did an initial write-up of it, but no pics in action yet. It is running over the temporary tank, I will have to take some shots of it in action. So far I really like it though.

cool have you used any cad leds? if so do you have any pics of them over your tank im interested in the 50w multichip pendants they have

What I like about CAD is the build quality. The skimmer body is super thick acrylic, not wimpy like some of the cheap cones out there. So far the LED seems very well built as well. Also they are built in SoCal, right around the corner from where I have family.

cool sounds like you got it all planed out it should work good. and thanks for replying to my comment i was thinking about using a cad skimmer and cad led lights on a 125 tank i want to setup.

Love the skimmer. Quiet and pulls in a day what my old Remora Pro pulled in a week. The valve you are seeing is plastic, just colored gold for some reason. I'm. It not worried about too much flow through the sump. First off the pump is on medium setting, so about 1100 gph. Then there's head pressure reduction. But I've never really subscribed to the concept of too much flow through a sump, to a point that is. The skimmer will still fill itself and do its thing internally, and the design of my sump has the skimmer in its own chamber with a constant level. Chaeto will do just fine in higher flow, I have found it prefers to tumble anyway. And aside from the reactor, which has a valve to control flow, there is no other filtration in my system.

looks like a neat build, how do you like your cad skimmer? also im a bit concerned with the copper or brass valve on the return line. and i also wonder if running 1450 gph through your sump is going to cause the filtration system to not perform efficiently. you probably only need to run about a 600gph pump as your return pump and you could re purpose that reeflo pump and make you a closed loop on your frag tank. thats just my .02 though.

Not over the tank yet, will be today hopefully. It is replacing a 250 Phoenix DE. I REALLY love my Phoenix, so we'll see how it goes. I'm optimistic though from the color on my white walls.

Looks like a nice fixture from the outside, but you forgot to include the picture of it over the tank.

Hadn't heard of those before. I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks on the tank. Be sure and take before and after photos for us.

We had bad rain and hail here in Waco. Marc, I actually tried to call you and David W. before the tornado went in your area to warn y'all. I got no answer so I thought yall were aware and was preparing. I'm glad everything was okay.

I was definitely lucky to not be affected by the storm. My home is unscathed and maybe my car, which was out in the hail while I was at an appointment today. We waiting inside and watched the tv screen for news of where the tornadoes were traveling. Two were down at the same time, one very close to where I was. And according to the 5pm news, one tornado was tracked on the ground for 30 solid minutes. I can't believe it.

The videos you may have seen with the semi-truck trailers blowing around in the wind were rated between 6-8 tons.

looks like you made a good purchase! I am going to need a small footprint skimmer myself.

Pic from last weekend. Skimmer is kicking butt! Especially considering the relatively light bio-load of the tank it's on.

The bubbles are small and dense, and the head at the top of the cup is thick. So far so good!

Yikes! That's why my doors will have Tot-Locs on them (the magnet type locks on the inside) and the canopy will be too high and heavy for little hands!

last night I was out working on the wifes car putting in a heater core and I went in to the basement to get a screw driver off the workbench and looked at the tank and it looked like a milk shake 3yo had dumped almost 4oz of spectra pure food in the tank I had the sock out for cleaning so the pump ground it all up This reviles the horrific oreo incident of 2001 that was very very ugly. I usually have the tanks covered but had been cleaning for hats fts thread tomorrow didnt want to be a no poster again this month
