My advice is do your research before you buy and you'll have more success. That being said calcium and alkalinity need to be kept near natural sea water.

My next build is going to have a false side in it to act as a wave box so I dont have to have anything in the tank

The Tunze pumps are a little smaller and are gray rather than black. They are better built and have excellent customer support.

Korallia pumps don't last too long, usually about a year.

If you want a pump that seemingly lasts forever, Maxijet pumps are great. And now when you buy one, it comes with a conversion kit to run it like a stream pump instead of a single point of flow powerhead. The suction cup attachment is enormous though, something I'd like to see redesigned.

what was wrong with the koralias? im using them currently, is there something wrong or defective with them? if your considering tunzes, whats the difference? melev mentioned that it depended on what you wanted to see in your tank, if you use tunzes wouldnt they be same "eye-sore" as koralias?

If the flow number is accurate, that is. I don't know if the corrected numbers have made it out to the various vendors yet, or if upgraded parts have been installed to increase the flow rate as advertised.

I've had to clean a few of those, and screen that snaps on seems a little flimsy to me, so be careful taking it apart and snapping it together. When those first released, the C-clip that held it to the magnet broke quite easily, but I think that was resolved. The former Turbelle and Stream pumps were quite durable by comparison, providing a lot of flow and could handle a good scrubbing. The only downside (to me) was looking at them in my reef. They took up a lot of space and blocked my view of corals.

For a guy on a budget, these are a better option than Korallia pumps.

It seems to have the same if not higher flow than the mp10's that i have? so With your experience with these pumps should i go ahead and buy two of these and a controller?Remember my tank is 100 gallons yes but the measurments on it are 48' L x 24' W x 12 T ( a perfect reef tank short and fat )

Now that being said melev, would you personally recommend tunze for a 100 gallon reef or no? i did read the article but i like to get a review from people i can actually communicate with (and the fact that the creator of reef addicts is the one with the experiencewith these power heads doesnt hurt either )

Blake glad you asked I have been wondering about other brands myself. The vortechs are are expensive and i seems like there have been a lot of posts with people having trouble with them. Maybe it just appears that way

the mp 10 puts out almost as much as the 40s If I remember right but ive been wrong about 10 million times

Its the best feeling! haha and i would love to post pictures.. even videos! but all I have is my stupid phone and I have tried capturing pictures of them countless times over the past 3 or so days and my POS phone cant capyure them well enough without being blurry and or not doing them justice with the colors under my LED fixtures (all I use on my reef tank, no halides, t5's, VHOs. just LEDs) so I am kinda screwed :/
