The glass shield on MH bulbs in to cut down the UV radiation as the bulbs emit quit a bit of it and there for the glass shield should never be removed.

Luckily I didn't get THAT red. But my skin did hurt to the touch and its dried out today.

I wish the pictures were a bit bigger on his site so we could see more detail. Nice find.

Lol. Be careful. those UVs are bad for you and corals. I think this is a good example to show everyone why they need that UV glass on the DE MH setups.
