Entries focusing on feeding procedures

  1. At the same time, each day...

Every evening around 5:32 p.m. all the fish get excited about their pending meal. I have an Eheim autofeeder suspended over my reef in the upper left corner. It dumps food into the water though an acrylic bracket I sell on my site called the Eheim Chimney: http://melevsreef.com/catalog/eheim-...feeder-chimney This keeps the food in the water and none of it goes out/down the overflow into the sump.
What makes this time fun for me is watching all the Skunk clownfish rise up out of the ...

  2. What dosing Reefbooster looks like (Video)

I've been dosing Prodibio's products in my tank since February 2011. Three years, already? It's almost hard to believe.

I have an article abut how I dose here on ReefAddicts: http://www.reefaddicts.com/content.p...dibio-Products

The one substance I've just not embraced is Reefbooster. It just makes me nervous, plain and simple. It's their microfood, and they highly recommend it. Every year at MACNA the owner of ...

  3. Rod's Food arrived

I just got a shipment of Rod's Food delivered today. The Fedex guy woke me up, actually... and since I know he does such a nice job packing the food with dry ice, I put the box on the counter and went back to bed. An hour and a half later, I started brewing some coffee to start my day and fired up the Nikon.

Rod's special packaging is almost magical. When you open up the box, all you have is frozen food, with no trace of the dry ice.

  4. How much food should you feed your livestock? A lot!

At our last club meeting, Dr Ron Shimek spoke to us about what real science proves when it comes to fish eating habits. He started his talk while tornado sirens wailed outside and hail pounded on the roof above our heads. His microphone was set up incorrectly and we really couldn't hear what he was saying all that well, but the audience did what they could when they weren't fidgeting or wincing for the damage their cars were likely enduring.

Halfway into the meeting, we were told ...

  5. Automating feedings and vodka dosings

When I have to go out of town, it's important to keep even these simple things cared for. Relying on someone to physically dose my tank with the proper amount daily as well as feeding my reeflings - well, you just never know if it truly was done as promised. I don't like it, but I too suffer from doubt.

So I made a little Vodka doser. It's very simple, following the idea that was released via our YouTube channel from the MAX conference last month.
