Yes this is going to be the man cave, soon as the fish room is done the rest of the basement is getting some love and a new flat screen tv with surround sound.

You may want the front to open the width of the tank for easier access. Do the wood work like Marc did his. Pretty woodwork would look good in that placement of the tank. Is that going to be the "Man Cave". ;-p

    Thanks for the compliments everyone.

I'm planning on using insulation and 6 mil plastic sheeting along with the green board that is used in bathrooms (moisture resistant) I've even tossed around painting everything, including the studs and backside of drywall, with Kiltz. There are two windows in that room, since two of the four panes of glass need replaced one is going to be a vent window. For cooling I was planning on just running a vent to the central A/C duct running through the ceiling.

The opening above the tank where there isn't any drywall will be a door so I can get in and do maintenance if needed. The door is going to be at least 4 ft wide, maybe even the whole width of the tank I'm still debating.

You got a lot done! Insulation? Plastic sheeting underneath perhaps? Did you install or are you going to install vent fans? How will you cool that room?

I think the dimensions are awesome too! Going to be a cool build for sure. Congrats on the upgrade, I know you must be excited. ;-)

I like the dimensions of that tank, you'll have plenty of real estate for aqua scaping.

Ya, those pipes are a pain, but have to be there. When its all done no one will see the pipes

That dumb pipe is going to be in your way forever. It'll spoil pictures from the side, but you still have space for pumps and cleaning magnets. Looking forward to future blog entries by you. Congrats on your new tank.

So after a couple of hours my friends arrive, we have to get this....

    down here....

After a lot of lifting the tank made it to the basement.

Now all I needed to do was build a stand, I took what I've learned since my first tank and built a stand that will more than hold this tank.

The long 2 x4's will be part of the wall on the front and then there will be a wall added to the side making a "fish room"

After the stand was built it was decided that the tank really needed to be on the stand in order for more work to be done. So I call up some more friends and we placed the tank on its new home.

So a quick recap of my day, clean tank, move tank to basement, build stand, place tank on stand. Yep I'm done for the day more tomorrow.

I had forgot about this blog.

    Marc,

I did build a intake pipe with drilled holes in it to fit into the bulk head and I slide a filter sock over it and use the sock backwards.

I also made this cool little light holder. I'm using 6500K Lights from Lowe's. I have to prune the cheato about twice a month with two bulbs running 12 hrs a day.

Remote sumps and equipment areas can make a display tank almost dead silent. I know I'm happer than my wife about how quiet my tank is.
