  1. Another testimonial for "pegging" method of mounting frags

I just upgraded to a bigger tank over the summer, and when looking into building my new aquascape Marc had mentioned that I should look up "pegging" and sent me a link. In a nutshell, you drill small holes all over your rock and mount your frags on rigid airline tubing pieces about an inch long. Drop the frag in one of your rock holes, and you're done. You can easily move them around all you want until they encrust over the connection. I decided to give this a try and loved the flexibility ...
  2. Another 90/50 update

I got both tanks plumbed together into my tiny sump and waited a couple days to make sure everything looks good. It does, so today I moved a lot of my coral over. I took out everything that wasn't on a huge rock. I still have an encrusing monti and a table acro in the 55, along with a small clam that has attached to his rock that I don't have room for. I also got out my RBTA and percs, but I'm hoping to borrow a fish trap for the rest. I can't believe how small my RBTA is when stressed out ...

  3. 90/50 update - new aquascaping attempt!

I'm still building my combo 90/50 system with 2 stands that will come together to look like 1, and I'm ready to build the canopies. The tanks are on the stands and the frag tank is running in a water/vinegar bath to clean it up a little. I also decided to run my older powerheads in the vinegar bath while I was at it, and my Koralia 3 was one of them. I thought I shook everything out, but once I put it in the vinegar water out came 15 pods, 5 asterinas and one mini brittle star. Needless to say ...

  4. 90/50 combo system I'm building

I'm upsizing from my 55, and I thought I was going to get a 150 or so, and it would have a frag area in it. I came across some great deals though, and I ended up with a 90 and a 24x24x20 (50 gal) for a total of $100 and a few frags. I'm building two stands for them that will link together and look like one, and then the 90 will be a reef and the 50 a frag tank.

I'm going to use my current 55 as a sump with a separate return to each tank and glass baffles added for a skimmer and fuge. ...

  5. DIY'ed my way into the ER tonight

So I'm in the process of building my stands for my 90 and 50 that will come together, and I decided to bring the frame for the 90 into the living room to check level in it's final spot. Turns out I needed to put a little bit of a shim under a corner to keep it from rocking about a sixteenth to an eighth of an inch, so I thought I'd glue it under there before taking it back out to the garage. Well, the gorilla glue had some dried glue in the tip and I just couldn't get it out. So what do I do? ...
