Hey Mits, did Melev have a article on pegging? What size drill bit you used? ;-). I have some frags to hang and believe thats a cool way o f doing it, makes it stronger too I bet!
Hey, put a piece of molding in-between the two canopys. Just stain or paint it the same. It will look good I believe. :-)
I got it filled with sand, water, and aquascaped. There are some hermits, a fighting conch, and two brittle stars in there now as well. Unfortunately the canopy isn't a perfect fit as it was for the dry fitting in the garage, there's about a quarter to half inch between the two with a sliver of light coming out. I'll have to figure that out later. The sand was by far the hardest part. It's all black sand too. My old DSB is going in the new fuge whenever I get the 55 cleaned out. My aquascaping is MUCH simpler this time around, but the use of pegging will allow me to add more coral than I could before. It's 3 structures standing apart, with the center one being a tower for the RBTA. I'll add pics of it for my next blog update.
I like the idea of the 2 tanks next to each other like that.
Its going to look awesome! ;-)
It'll be just like the stands. It will look like one really long canopy. It's just easier to hold off putting up the canopy until I have the rock and sand in there. It's sitting in my garage ready to add light and put up.
Very nice! Are you going to have the canopy for the 90g line up with the top and bottom of the 50g? That would be cool looking too! ;-)
Pics please!
Thats awesome Mits! Sorry to hear about ya tank though; hopefully ya can sell the RBT and get a new one. ;-)
Cool, can't wait to see it! ;-)
I don't have valves, I just threw in a second return pump. The new 90 will have a much more open aquascape. I'm going to throw most of that rock somewhere else.
Let us know if it splits.
You have valves that can be closed to the 55g so you can move it and put the 90g in it's place huh? You definiteley have lots of rock.
Ahhh, okay..I think i'm more in a hurry then you, just want to see it up and running and ya livestock happy in their new bigger tank. ;-P I know...I know...good things take a little longer. heh
No, I have SW running down into a 5 gallon bucket for bulkhead leak testing and letting the new water reach equilibrium. I'm going to start moving livestock once I plumb everything in and it's all looking healthy. The 90 is in the garage on it's stand with an unpainted canopy that still needs doors made and trim finished.
You got the 90g up and running? Moving livestock yet?
YI'm moving the 2 250w MH bulbs over to the 90, and I added a new ballast and reflector for another 250 for the frag tank. You should see my RBTA today. It looks like a waterslide. Huge.
The last time I had an anemone was about 13 years ago in my 30g reef tank. It moved in the back of my rockwork...lol. I do want to try another, BTA. Hopefully it won't move to much.
It's sad but I'm really trying to avoid an anemone as I don't want to deal with it moving around in my smaller tank... I just hope my clowns take to a frogspawn or something.
I redone my rock work today. My red Monti was starting to look darker and sagging. lol I have him back high and he loves the new lighting. I have a red birdsnest..lol..just one piece that stands tall and the colors are faded a bit. I think it needs to adjust to the lighting. You have some nice lighting, are ya going to use them MH on ya new tank too? Yeah huh, I would, they are nice. I stayed away from MH. I thought about getting a retro for MH buy decided on running the VHO's and the T-5's. I may get some later if I see the SPS I have is not growing, i'll see.
