  1. Tank Update

It has been over a month now since I added the three Fish. They are still alive and seem healthy. I have lost 5 of the snails now. All are the margarita snails. I guess those are not for my tank. All others seem fine. I still have some diatoms popping up. The nitrates are still high. They have been at around 30 for weeks. They don't seem to budge. The phosphate reading has gone down to a reading of 0 for weeks now. I would guess it is being used up as fast as it is added. Not much else to tell I ...

  2. New Additions

I now have three fish. I went looking for a first fish and ran across some blue reef chromis damsels. I got three of them. These things seem to be hungry all the time. I guess that s a good thing though. They are active during the day and are always out above the rocks. All seem to be getting along OK. They always seem to be hungry. When I got home I tested the water salinity the new fish were in and got 37 mS. I rechecked it with a refractometer and got 24ppt. Is it normal for LFS's to keep their ...

  3. 3 Month Update

It has been about 3 months since I filled the tank with water. A couple of weeks back I went to one of the local fish stores and got some sand and a rock with some coralline alga on it from one if their tanks. I was willing to pay for it but they said it was not enough to charge me for it. They said to just remember where I got it. Kudos to them I will defiantly go back. I also added 3 turbo snails at that point. There was some alga starting to grow on the rocks.

  4. Sump Improvements

I removed the sump from the system Sunday a week ago. I just got it installed back in the system Monday evening. While it was out I completed the drain line plumbing to the Sump. I made a acrylic cooling fan holder and also a probe holder that allows probes to be added in the bubble trap. I also made the feet for the corner boxes along with a acrylic cover for mounting float switches to the return compartment and probe holders to the refugium compartment. I was in a hurry so I did not get a lot ...

  5. Corner Boxes for The Sump

I decided to try and make a couple of corner boxes for the sump that I could used to either add media or add some small live rock. The drain manifold would output into these before entering the compartment the boxes are in. I have little room so I decided to make them in the shape of a triangle. Since the sump is currently in use I did not make the base portion at the bottom of the boxes yet. I will have to make these when I pull the sump to finish the drain manifold. Below is a photo of the parts ...
