  1. 3 Week Update on Tank

It has been 3 weeks since I filled the tank with water so I thought I would give an update. I have had no issue with the tank itself. There are 2 MP10's for flow. I have a Avast Marine calcium reactor kit, Avast Marine biopellet reactor kit both with Sicce Syncra 1.0 pumps and a TLF 150 reactor. The return pump is a Sicce Syncra 3.0. The return manifold has 5 output ports with 1/4 valves. Four are in use with the current setup. I was going for 6 outputs but had to remove one to be able to remove ...

  2. 42 Gallon Hex build

I mentioned the leak detect float switches in my last blog. So I figured I would post so information on them here. In the first photo is one bracket assembles and the parts for the second bracket. The second photo has the marks used to drill the hole for the float switch on the small part and the holes for the mounting screws on the long part. For this I used a combination square. I admusted it to near center to make the marks. This got me 2 parallel line. I just drilled the holes in the center ...

  3. 42 Gallon Hex build

I ran a leak simulation this weekend. I actually ran my Drinking water RO output to the tank and let it run down the outside of the tank to simulate an overfill, splash down the side or a leak at the seam of the tank. I let it run until the leak detection float switch was tripped. I only had a little puddle on the bottom outer frame at one of the side doors and a trickle in the front electronics compartmant where the conduit enters. A single drop ran down the back panel of the compartment. I have ...

  4. Sump Cooling Fans

While I was at MACNA my system ran OK with one exception. One of my sump cooling fans went out and took out the fan controller with it. All the fans were off because of this with the exception of the cooling fans for the LED lighting. The water temp did go up to 82 degrees with the fans out. This was not so bad. The real issue is it could have caused a fire since the the circuit board in the fan and the one in the controller had burnt spots. You could smell that burning smell in the room a couple ...

  5. 42 Gallon Hex build

The first few photo's are of the stand during the build. You can see the 2 PVC conduits that will have the wiring that runs from the front to back of the stand. There are 2 sets of hangers that are mounted between the 2 conduits. The return manifold is mounted to the hanger between the 2 conduits. The return manifold was shortened by one output and raised and mounted above the hangers after these photos. This was to allow removal of the skimmer from the sump without going to a lot of trouble. The ...
