  1. Acrylic welding - Overflow installation!!

Just made my first ever acrylic weld... other than my practice joints. I'll be posting some pictures later this evening. I'll also be posting an updated picture of my tank and the new (mostly completed) plumbing. It's been a long time coming, but by the end of the weekend I will probably be able to give my system a full scale water test (and hopefully share a video with you guys). Hope you all enjoy the pictures when I get a minute to post them this evening!

Okay, so as promised, here ...

  2. Leveling a tank?

    Hey guys,

I have a picture to show all of you. The kind that an owner gets excited over. Water in the tank!! Here's my tank filled as high as I can currently fill it (the plumbing and overflow box aren't totally finished yet):

At the water's highest point I went ahead and measured the distance from the rim to the water line at all 4 corners. The right hand side of the tank is 1/4" lower than the left hand side of the tank (the ...

  3. VorTech Question?

    Hey guys,

Real quick. I've been saving up for a set of VorTech MP10wES pumps. However, I have a 4ft. long standard shape 75 gallon tank. I was wondering if two MP10s would provide enough flow? To give a bit more background, I am planning to place the MP10s on the tank's sidewalls. That's why I was thinking I could get away with using two MP10s and then just syncing them to be alternately on and off. Any suggestions? Should I use two MP40s instead? One MP40? As guidance, I would ...

  4. Re-siliconing an old tank?

    Hey guys,

I had a few questions about the proper way to resilicone an old tank. I have a new to me 75 gallon tank which made it into a few pictures on here previously (link). The silicone between the glass panels is fine. However, the silicone around the internal portion of the tank has gotten beat up and scraped into by its former owner. As such I am uncomfortable with using the tank before I attempt to fix the silicone. However, I want to do this correctly and have a few questions. ...
  5. Compression Foam?

I have a few questions about compression foam used underneath larger tanks.
    1. How thick is the foam you usually put under your tanks?
    2. What type of foam do you usually use?
    3. The neoprene foam on this website seems like a good choice. What do you guys think?
My tank is a 21" tall tank (It's a standard sized 75 gallon). Assuming that the pressure ratings found at the link above is rated in psig (gage pressure) and not psia (absolute pressure), then the additional pressure due to a 21" ...
