I Plan on putting in a mag drive 7 return pump with a head flow at 4ft approx 480 gph which equates to about cycling the tank water about 4 times per hour. I'll split the returns to 2 with a SCWD and place them just off of center. I also have 2 Rio 1700 Power heads the the ends of the tank. Do I need more water current in the tank??? If so, I was thinking about the Koralias, just not sure what size/flow rate and position. Are there any good ideas for which water pushers need ...
So, Here's to asking the Million Dollar Question..... How does one balance the entire setup to eliminate the slurping sound the Weir box Makes... In recap, 120 Gallon tank, the Sump is modeled after a Model F from marc's designs out of a 29 gallon aquarium (overflow splits to 2 sections, 1st being where the skimmer will sit and the 3rd section where the fuge is.) BTW, the Ball valve is located above the fuge....I could leave this one open and cut in a new Ball valve right over ...

Can the reef survive without Live sand??? whats everyones thoughts??? can I just re-use the CC/Argonite??? I've boiled all the Crushed Coral to clean it. ...

I'm an accomplished Aqaurium nut for over 20 years and just recently accepted a position within my co to travel less and stay home more, so, I'm going to begin the voyage to becoming a reefer. I broke down my 120 gallon Yellow Labochromis cichlid tank nearly 3 weeks ago and am hopeful to go and p/up a 20 gallon breeder tank that I found on CL and convert/modifiy it for a sump ...
