Looks great. I love unboxing new equipment!

They were put in 0-phosphate water before. Soaking and resoaking them in bucket after bucket doesn't sound like something I want to deal with. I did however get an answer to my original question. The biopellets may be able to keep up, but I don't really like the idea of pumping PO4 into the system via Calcium Reactor effluent.
Yeah, packing slips would make sense.
Question, if you now took them out and put them in new water would there still be more or would it have all drawn out? Besides, those bio pellets should be able to nuke the PO4 right away.
Next time put in a paper that has a description of what it is and what it does along with some business cards so they can each take one. Be a good way to help them not freak out and get them interested in what we do.
That's awesome... makes me think that some of those TSA inspectors have a story or two to tell! Diggin' the new setup.
ROFL! Love that idea of seeing a video of them carefully opening the box with a robot and sending in dogs to sniff for any hints of danger, only to see them lapping up delicious water instead.
Blog entry updated. The water measured high in PO4 and I won't be recycling my corals after all. It's just not worth it to me. If any of you would like to do this test yourselves, please do and post your results. I don't really see the reason for me to repeat my test.
For anyone who didn't know what it was, it definitely could have been taken for a BOMB. You are going to get thrown off a plane by TSA sooner or later The dual TDS meter must have had TSA freaking out you should be able to download video of your stuff being searched.
It could have been an issue of the newly seeded biopellets. However, the total volume of new pellets wasn't matched to the water volume of the tank. The Tyree coral that died was green after death. This is referred to as "boring algae" and could have been a factor. In all likelihood, something triggered a negative response and the dying tissue hitting the neighbors could have hurt the other corals and took them out.
Oh yes, there are some documented blogs, but I'll do a new one since it's been a while and things are more settled in now.
Hey Mark, What about the possibility of the new biopellets? I lost 3 acros when I went to biopellets. Also lost frogspawn. Acros were the first to go. Although everything seems stable now, it was very disheartening.
I wonder if the physics of light waves is similar to that of Sound Waves. If so, it may explain why the Coral on the outside edges of the "hot zone" were affected. If so, the intensity at the edge would be greater than the intensity of light / heat in the middle due to the Overlap of light waves from the two lamps being combined at those points. Basically the edge corals would have the intensity of the left light plus the center light, or the right light plus the center light. Just a possibility. Huygen's Principle or something... I just don't know if the principle relates to the properties of Light like it does Sound. I only had to test on the physics of Sound...
I lost one of my favorite sps colonies, by not accumulating it to a new bulb change. It was right under the bulb... Then the next time I changed the bulbs out . My ritteri anemone didn't like the dim lights from the three screens I was using. So it decides to floating around my tank, looking for a new brighter location. He found it. Right in my mod'ed maxi-jet pump. Kill all my fish in the tank except the two clownfish. So sometimes you can't win. LOL
Wow Marc, Awesome as always! Like OneReef... I'm kind of a tech junkie also... is there a previous thread that explains your sump in more detail? I would love to be able to emulate it in miniature on a project I am just setting up. Also, your power center is very intriguing! Care to expound on how that came to be and how it works sometime? Sorry... I know you are busy but I can't help myself!
