I have had this lobophyllia for at least four years. It should be a bigger colony by now, but neighboring corals did a number on it. Still, I love the giant polyps of this LPS coral and view it (located in the front right corner of my reef) daily. Yesterday I hopped up on the walkboard to take a few topdown pictures when the lighting was in 20,000K mode. All that blue makes corals pop naturally, but the camera just captures a blue haze. I spotted something interesting, so I grabbed a Top Down Photo box and my Nikon and get a few nice images tonight. This first image is why I wanted to take a picture. These frags are growing and swirling together. There are three montiporas co-mingling at the moment.

Instead of a write up with pictures, this year I opted to shoot video. It was a fun event, and I ran into a lot of friends as well as a bunch of happy hobbyists bursting with excitement. People get re-energized by the three day event, and find their passion for reefkeeping back in the forefront of their minds.

I got to check out the newest Kessil LED last week, which will be on display at MACNA next weekend. I was impressed by the look it provided.

For the third year in a row, our club got a chartered air-conditioned bus and spent the day visiting a few LFS (Local Fish Store) that are club sponsors. We visited five stores that day, and I ended up with more fish food and a couple of new corals. With 50+ of us shopping that day, I'd estimate that we spent about $7500 supporting the local economy - which is a great thing for those stores. And the best part, I remembered to film it.
