This weekend, I received some blueprints of the new tank. It states on them that I can't share them without their express permission, so I'll ask. It looks like we are very close to getting the tank ordered, which is the first step of many. The LR barrel has been running on auto pilot. It's just a bunch of rock, water, and a Mag pump. I had a second barrel of rock that was cycling due to the Leather's demise (I'm assuming it is dead by now, and haven't heard back yet). I've been ...

Today is the 25th day since the reef was taken down... the livestock has been in vats and I've done my best to maintain stable water parameters. Within the first few days, alkalinity shot up to 15dKH, and it took a week to let that burn off to 9 again. Currently, the water measures 10 dKH and the calcium reactor seems to be dialed in for the current set up. Within the first few days, PO4 was .03ppm. Amazed and impressed, I was happy to not have to worry about that number. ...
With the reef tank torn down, my routines are a little out of sync. I don't have to worry about cleaning the glass nor much of anything else, it seems. Still, I check on my livestock and view them from above, and make sure all the equipment is running. The calcium reactor seemingly sprung a leak, but after a careful disassembly, no crack was found. I applied more teflon tape to the threaded area, and have it running again. I'll have to keep an eye on it and see if it happens again. ...
Keeping up with my monthly tradition, here's this month's *cough* full tank shot. I hope my reeflings will be okay for the next couple of days as I'm going out of town to speak to the club in Maine.
I'm about to fly out to Maine this weekend to speak to the club. Leaving my temporary holding vats unattended does make me uncomfortable as anything can happen. I had to repair the calcium reactor today, but it was an easy fix. One of the thumbscrews broke off in the reactor's flange, so I carefully extracted it and installed a new one. The reactor has been off for the past seven days to let the alkalinity in the water drop down from 15dKH, the level it hit due to no sand bed or ...
