I have had this lobophyllia for at least four years. It should be a bigger colony by now, but neighboring corals did a number on it. Still, I love the giant polyps of this LPS coral and view it (located in the front right corner of my reef) daily. Yesterday I hopped up on the walkboard to take a few topdown pictures when the lighting was in 20,000K mode. All that blue makes corals pop naturally, but the camera just captures a blue haze. It always impresses me how our eyes can see things correctly, ...
October 10th makes the reef 23 months old today. It's been doing quite well, and runs on autopilot. I have a few new frags in the frag tank that will soon be placed in the reef, and I have to determine the perfect spots for those. Here are some new pictures taken today. How many of the 17 clownfish can you count? ...

I just ordered some pretty SPS frags that will arrive next week. New video uploading now to Youtube. This week's topic is about skimmers, and this is going into my system soon. It's the largest NYOS Quantum skimmer, which is brand new to the market. I saw it at MACNA, and they asked me to give it a review so I'll be running it for a couple of months in my system.
I spotted something interesting, so I grabbed a Top Down Photo box and my Nikon and get a few nice images tonight. This first image is why I wanted to take a picture. These frags are growing and swirling together. There are three montiporas co-mingling at the moment. This is one of the Montipora that lost all its color 13 months ago that I discussed in the Prodibio presentation I recently gave at MACNA. That entire presentation is on Youtube ...
I've been talking about building myself a new frag tank system for about nine months or more. I'm just about to commence that project in the coming weeks. The corals that are in the tank right now are demanding more space, and it's pretty awesome to see. The tank has become dominated by a few species, and they are literally growing up the walls and out of the tank. It's becoming a "frag tank" in the singular sense, instead of a tank filled with dozens of frags. Here's a bird's eye ...
