Yes, I put the probes in the skimmer section - they need to be pulled and cleaned as they are overgrown with stuff currently.
The original cover will still be in use soon! I had to modify it a little so that I could still remove it while one of the drain holes is used for my return line. You moved all your probes down below I assume?
When Marineland was rebuilding the tank, I asked them to run the black trim all the way around the entire thing instead of the abrupt end where the external overflow box began on the first aquarium. I know it took me a while to get this done, but it's already vastly quieter and the small area of wall to the left of the tank will no longer be subjected to saltcreep and spatter. The paint bubbled a little in that area over the past six months or so. No further damage will happen now that the cover is in place.
Your old cover was very nice but this new cover, wow, is so sleek and is the bees knees! Your beautiful system continues to amaze
I suspect its going to end up brown/purple/blue with a green rim and perhaps even another edge colouration. There is such a variety of colours, especially on the left side.
Wow, everything looks amazing.
That's awesome. Man those eels are so cool. Their blue eyes are insane! Definitely a good purchase
Thank you.
looks great, i especially like the deep water shot and the limer, both really pretty.
Thanks, overall things are doing quite well.
Looking good Marc!
Your tank is looking great Marc! Great work bud.
I'd planned to go back to running biopellets and prodibio as before, just at the right ratio this time. 50g water changes on a 450g liquid volume system isn't large, but since I'm doing them often, it does add up. I've done about 300g's worth of water changes in the past 6 weeks or so. The goofy colors are interesting, but historically when I watched corals go through the rainbow they died. My assumption is that with how I was running the system all this time, the colors I was seeing were results of the total bacterial load of the system, and now that that has been altered greatly, the colors are shifting to adapt. I do have one large chalice that is doing quite poorly right now. I think it got damaged by a fallen pump I was about to test, but that's just a guess. Seeing exposed skeleton patches in the center is disheartening, but quite a bit of it still looks to be okay so far.
Whoops, sorry about the double post
Wow, some great color changes from those corals. The silver lining of this ordeal I guess? I was wondering, have your nitrates crept up at all since you've stopped the pellets, or maybe your large water changes have kept them in check? Later down the road do you forsee running your pellets again? With or without dosing bacteria? Or are you going to try another route?
Yep, I'm like the Energizer bunny. I just keep at it and at it and at it and at it....
Thanks - I'm sorry to hear you've had issues as well. Sounds like you need to do a sort of reset as well.
I think this may also have been my issue as I have lost nearly all of my corals to the exact same symptoms. The only coral still (barely) alive is my branching hammer coral. All the fish and shrimp are just fine though. It has been such a sad loss have considered just making it a fish only with live rock because I am afraid to kill another coral. I may attempt some hardy softies and treat this like a beginner setup all over again. Either way I am very sorry that you are also experiencing these issues especially to such a beautiful setup as you have always been able to keep.
Things are coming along Marc, Looks like i have to do some catching up. last I read, you had to send your tank back for a defect. Good to see you're still chugging along.
