You have to have an ORP controller if you run Ozone. You need to make sure you don't go over 425. Many opt to run it around 375. I'd be very careful and opt to run on the side of caution, maybe running it 20 minutes a day until you have a way to read that measurement.

You can upload pictures to Photobucket.com and then share those images on RA with the IMG tags.

I pointed it up to see what was going on. It's easily rotated around, but there's no venturi effect because the suction isn't great. Remember my skimmer has two pumps.

i just recently purchased an ozone generator and was wondering is there a way to tell if i'm running it too much prior to adverse effects in the tank, and no i dont have a controller it's the enaly ozx-300AT max output 200mg/h w/o air dryer it has a timer that goes up to 90 minutes but it also has a constant on button i run it 3 times a day for 90 minutes 60 gallon tank, not sure how to post pix have about 150 lbs of live rock 4 damsels a sailfin flame hawk about 30 diff corals, i did notice less white spots on my damsels @ nite, have what i think is the berlin set up all my water goes thru shimmer be fore being rtn th main tank, if you had a email i can send pix

Marc, is there any particular reason as to why you pointed the tee facing up?
if there isnt enough flow, will it create a vortex and suck air, or is there plenty of room?

(i figured you would point it sideways or down to pull from the bottom of the sump) (just incase you turn off your reactor, you wont have to deal with it later.)

This is really cool. I had always wondered what would become of the bacterial films. Sure they might be good for coral in that they can eat some of the excess, but it seems to me like there will always be more excess than can be eaten - thus a nutrient problem. Please let us know how the dinoflagelate battle goes after this modification. I realize there might not be any connection, but there could be. This is simple enough solution that I don't think it will not be very long before a company commercializes this. Maybe you could use your acrylic skills to beat them to that! Either way, very nice, very simple, very elegant! The out of the box way you go after solutions is why this is my reef keeping destination of choice!!

Thinking back a few years to my college chem classes I remember hydrogen peroxide is a weak acid so that probably accounts for the pH drop. If u figure that when it breaks down H2O2 yields hydroxyl free radicals OH... then pOH is the inverse of pH so the higher the OH concentration the lower the pH. Seems to make sense anyone seeing something I am missing?

I don't know for sure. I'd think it would elevate it with two oxygen elements, but it might actually depress it some since I'm barely hitting 8.3 each day.

Does the peroxide effect PH at all Marc?

I have a lot of brown stringy algae growing lower in my tank (sandbed and on the lower part of the live rock). If i dont have the ability to dose hydrogen peroxide like you are, how would you go about getting rid of it? I'm doing a 10 percent water change today and am going to get as much of it out as i can.
