DIY projects

Well I sat down with my receipts and came up with the cost so far for this build. I have spent more money then absolutely necessary, but I wanted to experiment with some things, I had to buy some tools, and I bought some items in bulk because I know I will be building more of these. So I am just basically going to give you the break down of all the things I have used on this project.

I've been wicked busy lately so I havent been able to work on the LED pendant much. But the last couple days i made some progress so here are a couple pics and a video!


Here is a prototype cap for the fixture. Im using an eye hook and 1/16" cable to hang the pendant. I have a double pole rocker switch in the cap that turns the LED and the fan on together so they are either both on or off. I thought about separate switches but figured when am I ...

Here are a couple of pics of the paint job I did today.

This is the housing paint job and the hasps I painted as well.

So i still have to finish the end where the hanger and the cords are attached. I am not real confident in the paint job. I feel like it will scratch very easily. Wondering if I could spray some polyacrylic or something on as a topcoat.... maybe even clearcoat ...

So i started working on the housing for my LED light fixture. So far I am pretty happy with the results. Its a little bit of trial and error and lots of fine tuning. Now pics.

After trying different configurations using different pieces this is my favorite so far and what i am using for Version 1.

So a couple weeks ago i bought a 50W led array off ebay. I ordered the LED and Driver combo and a separate heatsink and 90 degree optic. The LED was listed as 20k color...... but its a cheap ebay LED so i dunno how accurate that color rating is. The parts were shipped from hong kong so it took a couple weeks to get here. I just got around to slapping it all together except for a power source for the heatsink fan. Its wicked bright and the color of the light looks bluish its definitely not real yellow. ...
