That's a great start. Like I said in the latest podcast, take your time stock-wise. I wouldn't add any more fish for at least 9 months.

My finger leather closes up for a few days at a time every 10- 15 days so it can shed. Each time when the polyps come back out its bigger and fuller. This is how they grow. I also started my single frag on the floor of the tank and until it grew about 2 -3 times its original size then I slowly moved it up towards the top of the tank.

Does anyone know how I can find out if my standard 29G bottom is tempered or not? I haven't been using this tank but thought I might set it up for a quorantine tank, frag tank, or etc. It's an old tank that I will have to reseal but seems pretty sound. The label on the frame is "Metaframe." Thanks.
After I found out it was a nps I was for sure it was doomed being in a fairly new tank and half dead but it bouncing back and branching with good ext so will see how long it makes it
Yup, they are cup corals. I always get them on my aquacultured rock from Tampa Bay Saltwater.
I had purchased some rock from Premium Aquatics and Jason had told me that those (on my rock as well) were cup corals.
I didnt some seaching and it is a type of cup coral and a filter feeder
I have quite a few of those alive in my tank, not sure what they are called (think I had read ghost zoos once) but they have see though tentacles that they seem to use to filter feed, they don't seem to get any bigger or any smaller and do not seem to bother anything in the tank, and seem to rarely "color up" so I am assuming they are more closely related to the sun coral types that don't need light
I think those are called cup corals, but that's more like a nickname. They rarely survive in captivity, but are often found as hitchhikers on live rock.
I put a few with the halides off hoping you take a shot at it. I dont think it a majano but im not famliar with a tuilip anemone Ill try to get some shots of it for id. I can see im going to have to break down and get a good camera my HTC isnt going to cut it
The dime-sized bubble tip may be a majano or tulip anemone. Be sure to figure out if it is a pest. That unknown coral is tough to see in that blue haze, so I'm not going to guess.

Yea I took over the basement, I'm slow fixing it up have a small shop set up with computer and work area. working on a small bar and area to watch football ect but mainly for my tanks its been a slow process it was a neglected area of the house to say the least.

I wouldn't add it for a while because the tank won't have any nutrients. If you have it currently in a bucket, be sure to give it light and drop in some flake food every few days.
It is very clean but seem to have a high slit level. I plan on getting the refugium up and running today I have about 60lb of cycled fugi rock to add in the 40 breeder. I have some filter socks on order and I have a mag 350 with a micron sleeve im going to run for a bit to polish to wc. How long should you wait to add the algae to the refugium ive read some of it doesnt acclimate well? With a 4in sand bed in the fug will 2 65watt pc 10k/6.5k be enough for good growth it will be about 12in of water column.
Eventually it will settle out. Your tank has zero bacteria in it to help hold it together, so get some Microbacter 7 and dose your tank. A filter sock or filter pads can help reduce and remove the finest of particles, and a protein skimmer will export some muddy foam. The sand they sell looks very clean. I saw it at MACNA. But fine sand will blow around. If you'd used real live rock, the water would have cleared up in 12 to 24 hours. But with Marco rock, I'm thinking this will take days, if not a full week. Since you have to start a cycle, I guess it doesn't matter. Leave the lights off and throw in a raw shrimp (on a fishing line) so you can pull it back out in 72 hours.
