I was heading back home (Cleveland) on Black Friday from a family gathering in Toledo. Of course I had to stop by the Salty Critter (Vermilion, OH) as they were having a very nice sale. I spotted this gold chalice and I had to pull the trigger. It really pops under the blue/royal blue LED's. Now the pressure is on to keep it alive and colorful!
Over the past several months I have been on the lookout for a Potter’s Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon geoffroy). I very much enjoy the wrasse family and more specifically the various leopard wrasses. October 26th marked the 3 month milestone for keeping a pair of female Beaked Leather Jackets (Oxymonacanthus longirostris, Orange Spotted Filefish). I am not sure how one measures the success of keeping fish, but I consider this experience to be a successful one. They are active, robust and are very interesting fish to watch. This morning I was gazing into the tank when something caught my eye. A Chiton was releasing eggs. It was the first time I had seen this happen and luckily I had my video camera handy. I would also like to thank Mr. Midas Blenny for being a character as usual.
