Found out why my "Green Star Polpys not extending"... caught a Mithrax crab red handed:



Now I'm debating what to do.... GSP grow quick... so maybe I can keep them for Mithrax food in parallel with the other stuff (Valonias and GHA)... so they don't decide to eat other soft corals like the Zoas and Palithoa...

I was thinking of moving the GSP to my new quarantine tank, but, with the lights off that tank is averaging 27.5C ...

Not sure why but today I can't sleep, so I decided to check out the blogs... after reading melev's http://www.reefaddicts.com/entry.php...ter-I-saw-life I felt a little frustrated that I hadn't seen one pod in my refugium yet... It has been about 5 months since I changed my sump to add a refugium and I hadn't seen any pods.

So tonight I decided to stare at the refugium again... can't sleep, so... got my LED flashlight, a magnifying glass, and went pod hunting.

My LFS2 had a small refurbished Boyu MT-30 selling for 60% of the price of a new one, looking good, and I decided to buy it as a quarantine tank. My intention is to quarantine new corals more than fish, as I think my tank is already quite full of fish given its size.

Something strange is going on with my Green Star Polyps:


They are not one continuous colony... but all of them have the tentacles retreated for two days now. I thought it might be too strong a current so I turned off my MP10 pump for a while, but no, nothing changed. From the picture above does anyone see something wrong?

Yes, they have been hungry and stuffing their bellies with Valonias, GHA and apparently some Coraline algae (I had some green Coraline, if that exists, which is disappearing).

Look at this rock, can you see that it has some sections clearly free of Valonias with white rock showing, right beside sections infested with it? They were not like that a few weeks ago... too bad I don't have an exact same picture to compare, but I'm sure this rock had more Valonias on it, and less with purple ...
