T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank)

A mini-chronology of the set up of my ~1000g (total volume) reef.

  1. It arrives!

The tank will hopefully arrive next week. This week its snowed every day all day, and its making getting around the city trecharous. Sadly its not always the weather conditions that make travel so difficult. I sit on the 25th floor and right now its white out conditions; I can't see the building next to us, or any across the streets.

Because I like driving around guzzling "cheap" gas in my trunk, I drove to the hardware store yesterday and picked up plywood for the tank ...

I just finished placing my order for the second to last piece of our automatic water change system; a HDPE Heavy Duty Horizontal Leg tank. Last purchases are actual plumbing parts, but I've learned my lesson about pre-ordering before I've figured out 100% what I'm trying to accomplish.

  4. Cleaning out my phone yields video

by , 08-10-2010 at 09:06 AM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
This morning someone asked me if I had recent photos of our skimmer. I was cleaning up my phone yesterday and found this video. This was shot a few days, maybe a week, after being put online. This thing is a beast! Can't seem to find the embed option from YouTube, but here is the link. It pulls out about 2-5L/week and that volume seems to be both weather dependent, ozone reliant.

The wall we intend to place Tibet in. This was us lining everything up to make sure both myself and my other half could enjoy a good view of the tank. I'm short, he's tall, but we found somewhere to meet in the middle.

After much demo this is what we had left. We appropriated the basement bathroom to be our fishroom, and have opted to move the bathroom to a more appropriate space.
