T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank)

A mini-chronology of the set up of my ~1000g (total volume) reef.

  1. Packages in the mail make me happy

by , 08-16-2010 at 08:29 AM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
Got a package in the mail on Friday! Thanks Ian. Now I can calibrate my ORP probe and further adjust my ozonier.

I also sucked up the cost of gas and filled my truck ($75 eek!) so this coming weekend we can do more demo and just be done with it all.

  2. Water change system 90% complete!

I just finished placing my order for the second to last piece of our automatic water change system; a HDPE Heavy Duty Horizontal Leg tank. Last purchases are actual plumbing parts, but I've learned my lesson about pre-ordering before I've figured out 100% what I'm trying to accomplish.

I have to say though the 55g garbage containers we've been using since 2004/2005 have done us very well. I want to re-purpose them but can't figure out how. I may just offer them up for sale at a really ...

  3. Cleaning out my phone yields video

by , 08-10-2010 at 09:06 AM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))

This thing is a beast! Can't seem to find the embed option from YouTube, but here is the link. It pulls out about 2-5L/week and that volume seems to be both weather dependent, ozone reliant.

The wall we intend to place Tibet in. This was us lining everything up to make sure both myself and my other half could enjoy a good view of the tank. I'm short, he's tall, but we found somewhere to meet in the middle.

After much demo this is what we had left. We appropriated the basement bathroom to be our fishroom, and have opted to move the bathroom to a more appropriate space.

  5. How it all started

by , 08-04-2010 at 01:41 PM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
Back in October of 2008 I bought a house, and then in January 2009 after months of taping outlines on walls I started destroying the basement of a 1950s home to put in my dream tank. Due to the economic situation that hit in 2008 I've had some big ups and downs and absolutely missed my original water in date of October/November 2009. Things have been relatively slow moving and I've had to take large breaks due to my job, school, and life, but its happening. I just want to make sure its done right ...
