T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank)

A mini-chronology of the set up of my ~1000g (total volume) reef.

  1. Oh little Leg Tank its nice to finally meet you!

My Leg Tank, a water storage container, for our water change system is finally at our house. Its hanging out in the garage making friends with our other renovation materials. After everything was said and done I ended up paying about $250 for the tank, as I received a large discount for the issues we had receiving it. I have no idea when I'm going to get to installing it, but at least now we have it, and can sort out our plumbing order so we can get moving once again.

  2. Canvas Art

If anyone is looking for a company to print their photos onto canvas and frame them I used Canvas on Demand a few times and the results have been fantastic. I've been having custom sports photos, and a few diving photos printed up as gifts over the last couple of weeks.

I figured since a lot of people in the hobby are also photographers, or have a photography interest, that this might help someone out. I've also noticed that a lot of people seem to be using their own tank photography ...

  3. Better Luck Next Time

The leg tank came in earlier this week, but when we went to pick it up, they couldn't find it. They were really nice about the whole thing, they offered us a couple of fittings/valves/etc. for free as an apology. Friday they said they found it, so Kevin made the trip up to the opposite end of the city, when they were loading the tank they dropped it and won't sell it to us. They are concerned the fall could have damaged the tank. A new tank has been reordered, with a discount, and the aforementioned ...

  4. And lets once again hit the pause button!

by , 08-19-2010 at 09:55 AM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
I just have no luck it seems, I got laid off yesterday. There seem to be no jobs in my field, as I've been looking for about 3 months now. I'm looking for other jobs, but who knows whats out there.

I called this morning and am trying to cancel the order for the water container, so I'm just waiting to hear back from them. In the mean time while I look for a job I guess I'll do what I can on our basement renovation; such as taking debris to the dump, cleaning up, and using up any supplies ...

  5. Why thinking thing through is a good thing!

by , 08-17-2010 at 02:36 PM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
Last night my other half, Kevin, and I are hanging out in our basement/demo central. We were trying to make a shopping list for the hardware store so that we can finish the fishroom after the delivery of our water change tank. So our shopping list starts piling up and Kevin turns to me and says "where do you want the hole for the fan exhaust?"

Way back when we had a discussion about removing the window, and bulding a vent box to sit in the frame. I thought we were still ...
