  1. Quotes are out!

by , 10-13-2010 at 02:08 PM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
I finished up getting all my paperwork done for quotes today. We approached 4 different vendors when it was all said and done with. I also approached Oceans Motions about design feedback given that most of the circulation is going to be done via their four-way pumps. So now we wait.

We've been keeping ourselves semi occupied by chasing down some power problems we've been having in rooms around the tank room. Kevin's trying to plan how he wants to run and control all the additional ...

  2. Time to pull that trigger!

I got the final OK to re-quote the tanks (sump and display). So now I'm starting on the process of approaching each and every company on my list for a new quote for the tanks. The goal is to have both tanks in the house before the holidays, so we're leaving a lot of lead time to get those panes of 10.5ft glass. I have 5 places to get quotes from now; all glass, and there is now even a guy who I've heard (through the grapevine so it needs to be confirmed) that will warranty his work!

  3. Oh little Leg Tank its nice to finally meet you!

by , 09-29-2010 at 02:20 PM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
My Leg Tank, a water storage container, for our water change system is finally at our house. Its hanging out in the garage making friends with our other renovation materials. After everything was said and done I ended up paying about $250 for the tank, as I received a large discount for the issues we had receiving it. I have no idea when I'm going to get to installing it, but at least now we have it, and can sort out our plumbing order so we can get moving once again.

  4. And lets once again hit the pause button!

I just have no luck it seems, I got laid off yesterday. There seem to be no jobs in my field, as I've been looking for about 3 months now. I'm looking for other jobs, but who knows whats out there.

I called this morning and am trying to cancel the order for the water container, so I'm just waiting to hear back from them. In the mean time while I look for a job I guess I'll do what I can on our basement renovation; such as taking debris to the dump, cleaning up, and using up any supplies ...

  5. Why thinking thing through is a good thing!

by , 08-17-2010 at 01:36 PM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
Last night my other half, Kevin, and I are hanging out in our basement/demo central. We were trying to make a shopping list for the hardware store so that we can finish the fishroom after the delivery of our water change tank. So our shopping list starts piling up and Kevin turns to me and says "where do you want the hole for the fan exhaust?"

Way back when we had a discussion about removing the window, and bulding a vent box to sit in the frame. I thought we were still ...
