So if you haven't already stumbled upon my aquarium thread. I have a 120 gallon aquarium with no sump (just my personal choice for the setup). I have found some decent Hang On Back Skimmers but I have been toying with the idea of purchasing an External Protein Skimmer and just plumbing it my aquarium directly. However, I have no prior experience with External Protein Skimmers and I don't know what is necessary? Can I install the External Protein Skimmer on the Floor below my aquarium or do I need ...

Does Anyone Have Any Videos of the New HOB Super Reef Octopus Protein Skimmers? I'm interested in purchasing one for my aquarium yet I haven't seen any videos to prove their performance. It's either these or I'm going to go HOB Deltec but I would like to compare the two.

So it has been sometime since I last updated my thread due to work and other non reef related things but the aquarium has been filled with saltwater for about 2 1/2 months with no lights at all. So my wife and I where looking to add a little more scenery to the dinning room area of our home but didn't want to spend a fortune. So while picking up some supplies at a local Pet Smart we stumbled across the the Fluval Chi. It is a 5.5 gallon rimless aquarium with and integrated filter with LED lighting. It allows the water to be filtered and to trickle back into the aquarium like a fountain. So at $55.00 for the sale price we had to pick one up.

I'm interested in purchasing the Tunze Comline Reefpack 505 for my aquarium because it has different equipment that I want to use integrated into one system. However, I don't want to have to put money aside for two months to purchase the system. If I decide to purchase each piece individually starting with the Protein Skimmer. Can I purchase the Tunze Comline Filter 3166 with the integrated Tunze Osmolator 3155 combined in the same unit separately? Or do I have to purchase the unit as a whole to ...
