It's because once they get a little bigger they will start dropping baby kenya trees, and it can be tough getting them out of there if you don't want a forest of kenya trees. If you do want a lot of it you will love having one.
Thanks Mits, why do you say I would get tired of the Kenya tree, just wondering?
Coming along nicely. One prediction though: you will get tired of kenya trees within 6 months. I bet I could start an "I used to think kenya trees were cool" club and get some members.
Ok, thanks for the info Phil! I will just wait some time and see what happens
I looked up the SeaClone 100, it's a completely different style from mine, so I'm afraid the adjustment instructions will be different too. But in general, a skimmer should be adjusted so the main body is filled with a white bubble filled froth.
The Chamber..is that the actual bottom of the protein skimmer? Mine says the same thing. Mine is a hang on or put in sump..I hang it on.
Can't help you there I'm afraid. I don't have any experiece with that line of skimmer. On my backpak skimmer, you open the valve all the way, then slowly close it till the bubbles just reach the bottom of the chamber.
I turned the valve till bubbles stopped in the j tube. I believe the j tube is=intake line, is that correct?
ahh okay, it's a Sea Clone 100 by Instant Ocean. Thanks again Phil for the help!
What type of skimmer is it? Most skimmers take a few days or up to week when new before they start collecting well. They need to build a coat of slime on the surfaces.
Thannks Phil, yeah i've been contemplating on getting him out of there. Today or tomorrow I will list what I have in the tank so everyone will hopefully give me some good tips and info. I do have one question.. I just bought a protein skimmer and it said to turn the ..I believe its a air vale till bubbles stop going in the j tube..I did that and it seems like nothing is getting collected in the top cup area..any suggestions here?
Looks like a good start. One up-coming problem I see, that 3 spot hawaiian damsel will get big. Up to 6" diameter. And when the start to grow they get mean. It'll eventually kill your 2 clowns, this is from personal experience.
I have some ..I believe it's called "diatom" or somethime algae. The tanks been up and running for about 6 weeks.
This is pics with my iphone.
No, would be nice though. I use a monocular to look at my tank. If I don't have someone with me when I get some coral are live rock, I put it to the front of the tank so I can see it's shape and content so I know what placement to put it in.
How do you go about viewing your tank? You must select larger corals and fish, right?
I thought perhaps you meant colorblind. We used to have a club member here that was colorblind and his tank was one of the most beautiful ones in the club, bursting with color of all varieties.
Looking forward to pics.
I'm still learning this forum...lol. Read "Blind" by me for reply. http://www.reefaddicts.com/entry.php/360-Blind Thanks, HAT
i too am confused by the blind comment, how does that work??
