I want that tank that Real Reef was using!
Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. There was so much to see.
The Galaxia is beautiful!
looks great!
Looking good! Very clean tank.
Looking nice!!!
Yes it is grape, that is all I can find around here. I would like to replace it with some feather caulerpa at some point. I also need to get some chaeto in there, but it has disappeared locally from all the LFS's. The garage is conditioned by the Mr. Slim AC unit I had moved from the old house's garage. So the garage temp is perfect for the reef. I still need to insulate some stuff in the garage and add a vent fan for moisture.
It's doing good... the reef looks nice and clean. Is that grape caulerpa? How's the garage temperature affecting your system?
Cool, thanks for the info, going to try to hit them Thursday and Friday
Thanks for posting that bhsgk.
where in tampa are you going? there is really only one good lfs in "tampa" and one so-so store on the outskirts of tampa. then if you drive to oldsmar, about 20 minutes northwest of tampa there are two of the best lfs in florida IMO. In "Tampa" Creative Aquariums Of Tampa 150 S. I don't think I've ever been to any Tampa LFS there when I was in Florida two years ago.
Glad to hear it is looking better today.
Wow funny how different light spectrums make things look so much different...be cool to see it under MH to compare the difference in colors
Neenah, as of today that algae is on the out and out. I am sure it was just a phase of algae that comes with new tanks. The "red" LED's that I have are not red, they are magenta. They are also mixed 1 for every five blue on my LED stunner strips, so I cannot dim them by themselves. That Tort definitely looks purple in person and on my screen with the magenta lights. I will snap a pic today under just 10k MH's to show what it really looks like under normal daylight.
I would agree it looks "strawberry" to me too... Midnight I was doing a bit of research on LED light colors and I came across an article that says the reds oranges amber colors promote algae growth. From the article "it is recommended dimming them at about 30% or not used at all. The article also states reds are somewhat beneficial. Here's the link in case you'd like to read it. http://www.reefs.com/blog/2012/06/04...iy-led-lights/
Is my monitor off that bad or is the white balance in the pic off a little...looks like a light brownish pink on my home desktop??? Maybe I just need to recalibrate...::shrugs::
i am pretty sure that one is a blue tortuosa, however the magenta LED's change the color a bit. I will take one with just the MH's on.
Sorry...I thought the middle picture looked sort of strawberryish colored, but when I got home and looked at what everybody calls a "strawberry shortcake" acro, yours is different...more ORA Lavender Stag (ish) (yours may be a bit darker than the ORA Lavender Stag/depending on which monitor I use to view it)...still very nice color
Which one looks like a strawberry?
