My tank is in a dining room converted to a sitting fish room.the sump is in the garage that has been converted to a game room with pool table, and ac was installed.I have a big reef dynamics skimmer and refugium with reversed light period.I will take a few pics tonight.

They don't look too bad, but what do you currently have to balance them out? I see what I think is MH's over the tank (your temp rising with your pH pretty much screams high heat lighting... plus I can even tell they turn on at noon and shut off at 6 or 7), and something seems to control the pH at night... keeping it between 7.8 and 7.85... do you have a calcium reactor or anything running on the tank?

So, you could add a fan to your sump that's controlled by the Apex and turns on at 80 degrees. I saw a guy add a fan to his and really lock in his temp swings. It's about half way down. Look for the charts. It took his temp swing from 4 degrees to 1.5 degrees. Here's a link to his build log:

For pH, it really depends on your tank and it's setup. If you run a sump with a skimmer in a closed area (a small room or a closed tank stand) see what happens if you keep the doors open on the stand. If after a day or two check the chart and if it helped balance your pH you could install some fans and vents to help get more fresh air into the closed tank stand. If it doesn't you'll have to try some different methods. Lighting macro algae in a refugium counter to the main tanks lighting will help. You could also drip kalk only during the night (if you're already dosing... if you're not there's a lot of water testing and research that goes into that).

I agree with Hat too... would love to see your tank pics! :-)

That looks ok to me. I've always read that ph changes throughout the day along with your light cycle. I've always had larger temp swings, and no real problems from it. My coral has been fine and my fish seem unaffected. Mine would routinely go up to 84 and everything was ok. The only problem came earlier this summer when my central air went out and my house hit close to 90. The tank was up to at least 88 with the lights off and the only stuff that was hurt was the sps, especially montis. When I fixed the air and the tank got back down to normal I thought the sps would continue to bleach but it's actually come all the way back to full color and polyp extension in just a few weeks. I wouldn't recommend it, just telling you that 79-82 is fine.

In this case... you could even buy an iPod just for your reef. Heck with this display... just keep the iPod right there by the tank. It would be so much more user friendly.

Me... I would just have it on my droid. I'm sure someone will create a widget (if it hasn't already been done) that displays my tank stats on my home screen... :-)

Good point Midnight i was thinking along the same lines. Although i have a side question i know there is a i-phone app for neptune systems and i am wondering if it also works on the I-touch. The reason i ask is because i only use a cell phone on pay as you go for about 150.00 a year vs with an I-phone i would lock into 60.00 a month and the less i pay in cell phone bill the more i have for other toys.

I would not recommend not getting a display for one reason. things like pH and temp should be looked at constantly when using a controller. if you are not diligent about checking the computer all the time then a problem may go unnoticed for a period of time. every time I go in the garage I look over at the display and check the stats. whether I am getting chicken from the freezer or actually working on the tank. Getting lazy in this hobby can be devastating.

They are definitely great. I'm waiting to order the Apex Jr. in a few weeks for my system. Mustang you do know that the display is not even needed if hook it up to your home network and config from your computer. It also saves about $100.00 in the price.

I upgraded firmware and crashed the whole thing, then reran the firmware update again and got all of it working again. thanks again for all of your input.

Thank you for your input. When i get home i will see if any of those suggestions work...I haven't had time to contact Neptune yet as our neighborhood's power is back on but hte cable/internet is still out

have you tried reloading your firmware, should be a module status that shows is display model is"ok" and not "OLD". if old you need to upgrade display module, should come back on after reboot

Its probably shot, but I had a storm once and the screen looked crazy, but I could see the letters and numbers. It turned out all I needed to do is adjust the contrast. It was strange never messed with the contrast.

I'm assuming you have it plugged into an EB 8 or 4. Do you have any other aquabus (USB) modules plugged into the same power strip? If so, do they work okay? If you have another power strip, you may want to try plugging your display into that to see if it might work there... perhaps just the aquabus outlets on the power strip are fried.

One would think that if the outlets have protection from surges, the aquabus devices should have some protection as well. I have a few different devices on the aquabus, I'd be pissed if they all fried due to one surge.

Maybe Neptune will have some sort of warranty for this sort of thing....

It does look good Midnight! I like the new rockwork. Add a few more colors and it will really pop.

I'm glad the front isn't floating. That's what I thought initially.

And if the tank has diversity of color, that's perfect. It just appeared to be leaning to one color primarily.

Good call on the scraper, Heath. I use credit cards myself.

I bet you'll never talk about my sump's dirtiness again.

Now that I am looking at it, the GBTA, toadstool, favia, and some zoas are green. They just aren't showing up right. But I will scrape the bottom edge and the back since I was giving you a hard time about your sump.
