Ya that was a picture. I had it in dropbox but it doesn't show here. I'll try moving it from photobucket when I get a few minutes.
If that's a picture, I can't see it.
Sure thing, happy to help.
Just because a birdnest is going up in smoke doesn't mean other corals will do the same. I've seen one do that in my tank while everything else was fine. Doublecheck alkalinity, just in case. You can pile up living twigs and they will grow into themselves in a few weeks, and become a new colony.
And I definitely have to re treat for the planaria. Now that I know what to expect I will do the full dose for the 180 gallons in one shot. Thanks for your help Marc
I don't think it's related at all. I guess I should have opened a new blog so people don't get the wrong idea that it is. Today it looks the same.
Birdsnest can do that - could be 100% unrelated. They grow fast, and die fast. Remember the one in the clownfish tube video? It died overnight, and ended up in that video because I didn't bother pulling it out first.
Came home after work to find my soccer ball size birds nest in rtn mode. Fan frickin tactic. Not.
You probably should treat again in seven days.
I was too scared to do the full shot for a 180 gal tank so I spread the doses out over one hour to monitor the livestock. The good news is all fish and inverts appear ok today and I've done a large water change and am running rox 0.8 carbon in a canister. The bad news, I still see several in the fuge and in a couple places in the display. Overall, probably 85% gone at this point.
Why are you doing dose after dose on the same day?
Update: I siphoned what I could get at last night and again this am. I have started treatment about 45 minutes ago.I started with a dose for 50 gal. 30 minutes later another dose for 50 gal. Just did another dose for 50 gal.I'm going to hold there for a while because I'm too nervous to proceed any further.

I would siphon them out as they die, and then repeat again in a week if you see the need. Some people had to do this three weeks in a row. Be sure you are siphoning out as many as you can daily until the population is significantly less -- then treat.
I will try to post pics of the process as it unfolds after the treatment. Hopefully I can help others recognize and deal with this pest as well.

Flatworm eXit is what I recommend. Works great. My full write up is here: http://melevsreef.com/flatworms
It arrived today but the instructions suggested getting the magnesium raised to the desired level first, so I just mixed up a gallon of Magnesium Pronto that will be dosed to my reef hourly for the next 36 hours or so. I'll retest and see what it measures. It says to use ReMag 10:1 with the calcium reactor media. 9 parts Reborn, 1 part ReMag. I have room in the calcium reactor for this additional media.
Thanks Marc. I'll wait for your review before I pull the trigger on purchasing them. By the way I sent you 3 pics that are of interest to you.
